Playing the Waiting Game
@ 2008-11-04 – 15:51:39
Nearly time to go home, only 45 minutes and I’ll be on my way. Rosemary as been to her mum’s this afternoon so I have volunteered to pick her up. But first I have to call in at the chemist and collect my prescription. My doctors moved in 21st century and you can get your repeat prescriptions on line and collect straight from the chemist and great idea which saves loads of time.
It’s looking more and more like that I will be going to Scotland next week, I don’t mind going if fact it’s not too bad of a trip, it just a pain waiting to see if I’ll be going. I have to witness a number of tests but it’s not 100% certain that the equipment will be ready to test. So it’s a just a case of waiting to find out.

Health and Safety Audit
@ 2008-11-04 – 13:56:48
We are having a health and safety audit this week, which is being carried out by our cousins from across the pond (I suppose they would rather be here than having to suffer the elections). As normal with type audit of this nature we have the just had obligatory fire alarm test, and we all to trample out in the cold and damp car park. Thankfully it didn’t last very long and we are all back in the warm now.
IT has not been in touch yet about now email problem, I don’t think they will rush around a lot trying to sort it out. But I have received my pin number for my company credit card, unfortunately I haven’t received my card yet, I hope it comes soon because I may have to book flights and hotel room for my visit to Scotland next week (that’s if we are going).

Tuesday Lunchtime
@ 2008-11-04 – 12:51:08
It’s lunchtime already and once again it’s been a busy morning. Despite my problems with IT, no matter who I work, I always seem to have problems with IT, in my last company it was because they cancelled my email two weeks early, this time it doesn’t seem to have been set up correctly. I don’t know what it is, but they don’t seem to be able to get their act together and they turn over is always high. People seem to come and go like there’s no tomorrow.
I may have to go to the north of Scotland again next week, but as yet nothing as been finalised, I really they sort it soon; I don’t want to find out I have to go up at the last minute.

Lucky Sod - Money Goes to Money
@ 2008-11-04 – 12:31:36
The first winner of a new scratchcard game that pays one million dollars a year for life is already a millionaire. 33-year-old Keenan Altunis is a Turkish-born, London-based banker who was brought up in the United States. He works as an executive at European banking firm Unicredit and lives in an apartment in Clerkenwell, London, with his wife and young daughter.
Last month, Altunis travelled to New York to visit his mother. Before leaving for the airport, he gave his mother $100 to buy him three $30 tickets for the new scratchcard game. He told the Daily Mirror that it turned out to be the best investment he had ever made. The nature of the game means it doesn't matter Keenan didn’t buy the winning card himself.
Because Altunis lives in Britain, he will not have to pay federal taxes on his winnings, reports the Daily Telegraph. After paying New York state taxes, he will net approximately £570,000 every year for the remainder of his life. Under a US treaty with Britain, income from lottery winnings and several other sources is not subject to taxation for British residents.
Altunis admitted that, because of the success he has had in his banking career, his scratchcard jackpot will not materially change his life. However, describing himself as ‘blessed’ and ‘fortunate’, he acknowledged that his win was bittersweet as it came at a time when many of his colleagues and friends were losing their jobs.
Altunis and his family left New York yesterday for a Caribbean holiday which had already been booked before he scored his lottery win.

Bloody Email
@ 2008-11-04 – 11:38:06
Once again I seem to be having problems with my email, I posted last week that my contractors were not answering my email,. I now fully understand why. It’s not that they haven’t been replying to them it’s that the emails they have sent have not been coming through and have been bounced back to the sender saying address unknown.
I can receive internal emails but any email from external sources does not come through, bloody strange if you ask me. Anyway I have a raised a fault report, now it’s just a case of sitting back and waiting for it to be rectified.

Diet & Exercise
@ 2008-11-04 – 07:47:03
I had my monthly visit to the nurse last night for the official weigh in. Low and behold I was the same weight as last week, 14st 10lbs. So since I last saw the nurse I have lost 5lbs, not a lot this month. But I did find quite a difficult month, what with changing jobs it has thrown my routine out of balance and therefore my exercise routine. But hopefully once I get myself sorted I’ll be back on track.
I did mange to get on bike and it was a great session, a good time in difficult and wet conditions. I’ll be back out again on Wednesday and then I should be back into a normal routine.

Tuesday
@ 2008-11-04 – 07:37:42
Not morning fellow bloggers, and welcome to the second day of our five slog that will eventually take us to the weekend. It wasn’t a pleasant drive in this morning thick fog made driving conditions particularly difficult, fortunately the roads were fairly quiet and those drivers that I did encounter were driving well within limits for the foggy conditions.
It should be a busy day once again, I still have a fair amount to learn but the project work is really interesting and I must I am very much enjoying it, far better than the last job.
