  • Southampton University

Tomorrow I get a day off, from my usual exercise routine, instead I have to drive to Southampton University, and this is the first on a list of visits that we have planned. This is of course is very important for Caz’s future, although when I asked her wanted she wanted after University she didn’t know. Is that the same for most kids nowadays I knew what exactly I wanted to from the age of 12 and I achieved my goal, and did 24 years in the army.

Mind you I think Caz would make a very good senior manager, she’s great at keeping people in dark, because she hasn’t divulged any information about tomorrow, just that it’s in Southampton, no address, or even any times. Just like a boss who keeps his employees like mushrooms.

  • Fingers crossed

The job interview went very well yesterday and I have high hopes that I will be offered the position, I just hope that I am not jumping the gun, but I am very confident. Hopefully I should receive some feed back later today. Fingers crossed!

  • Ice in the Fuel

Rosemary insists on buying the Daily Mail, but for me it the probably the worst paper on the market, even the Sport is better than the Mail. It full of doom and gloom and it totally biased against the Labour Party (although sometimes I can see why). This morning headlines is meant to fill air passengers with confidence ‘Airline Fears Over Ice in Fuel’ I do wish this paper would check they facts before publishing crap like this. The investigation did conclude that ice in the fuel lines did cause the engines to lose power, but his is the first instance recorded that actually caused an aircraft to crash.

During my long career in the army I worked with the RAF and had the opportunity to work closely with suppliers who dealt with aviation fuel and they have never lost an aircraft due to ice in the fuel. Because like all aviation fuel world wide, it contains a chemical, which is commonly know as a fuel system icing inhibitor (FSII) which prevents water collecting in fuel tanks, the fuel is also routinely tested to ensure that no water is in the fuel, this prevents the fuel icing and planes crashing.

I would imagine that this is one off, and the airlines will as a precaution carry out extra checks of all of its aircraft. The Mail did say that this is a ‘Previously Unforeseen Threat’. Once again it shows what crap the paper prints, it hasn’t got a clue about any thing technical it just tries to create fear among the public.

  • Homicidal Maniacs

Hello bloggers of the world, well at least this website. Welcome to Friday and to another grey, miserable and damp day, well at least we have the weekend to look forward too. I had a little lay in this morning and did get out of bed until 8 and then of course it was my daily bike ride. Once again it was very windy but like always I stuck with it, it looks like I timed it perfect because it now raining out there. The only problem this morning was a bloody taxi that nearly knocked me off my bike, he wasn’t watching the road and pulled out from a junction, unfortunately I was half way across at the time. So he got the times honoured one finger salute and a lot of verbal abuse. Well he did deserve it, he didn’t stop and apologise. I got his number though so the taxi company will be getting a phone call later.

I just want to know why they employ taxi drivers who are homicidal maniacs.
