I have been trying to tell the people at work that I won’t be in today, HR already know because I told them yesterday but it has just occurred to me that nobody if my department knows, my line manager is in Marakesh for a long weekend. So I just phoned our junior engineer who is in college today (I totally forget about that), I will try the office again later.
Ryan, our junior engineer, is as I just at college today then he off on holiday for a week as well. Well not exactly on the holiday, he his doing the three peaks challenge for charity. Starting at 16:00 on Saturday he has to climb Ben Nevis, Scar Fell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours the 24 hours includes the drive between locations. The charity he has chosen is the RNLI; I wish him and the team all the luck in the world, because they are going to need it.

ROME (Reuters) - Dog excrement used to be merely a nuisance to pedestrians, now it could be used as evidence against pet owners and may lead to fines.
A town in northern Italy plans to create a DNA database of all registered dogs and then test droppings left on pavements and in parks to identify the culprit and fine owners who fail to clean up after their pets, La Stampa daily reported Tuesday.
"If signs and invitations aren't enough, we'll try genetics. I want a clean city," Antonio Prencipe, councillor in charge of the environment in Vercelli, a town of some 45,000 inhabitants near Turin, told the paper.
DNA tests would cost around 13 euros (10 pounds), which would be more than covered by fines, La Stampa said. It did not estimate the cost of creating a database.
The Israeli town of Petah Tikva launched a similar six-month trial program earlier this month, under which dog owners were asked to take their animals to a municipal veterinarian, who then swabs its mouth and collects DNA.
An excellent, but not very practical in this country or in any large city I imagine. There is nothing worse than the inconsiderate dog owner. -
Air Bags

A Japanese company says it has made an airbag designed to stop elderly people injuring themselves by falling over. The device is strapped around the body and inflates in 0.1 seconds if it detects it is accelerating towards the ground, the manufacturers say.
The Tokyo-based company, Prop, says the product is designed to cushion a fall using two separate pockets of air. One pocket will be behind the head and the other around the hips. It does not protect those who fall forward.
The airbag has been unveiled at the International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition in Tokyo. The president of Prop, Mitsuya Uchida, says it is aimed especially at old people with epilepsy, who are very vulnerable to injury. Japan has a large elderly population with nearly 30 million people over the age of 65. There is a huge market for products to protect and assist them. -
Good Morning

Hello, good people hope you are all ok this morning. I have just got in from my morning bike and I must say it was more pleasant than yesterday morning and drier. It’s another 13 mile under my belt, I’m certainly building up the miles now, and not long ago I struggled doing 3 miles. I certainly feel better for it and I find now that if I don’t go out I miss it.
Its quite funny really, I have noticed that when I go in a morning I see the same faces every day I go out and we pass the common curtsies as one does in morning, but when I go out in an evening I see a different of faces but there are no ‘hello’s’ or ‘good evenings’ at night time people keep pretty much to themselves, I wonder why that is?
