  • Chocolates That Give You An High

BERLIN (Reuters) - Police closed down a Berlin sweet shop after discovering the owner was selling chocolates and lollipops laced with hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana.

The 23-year old owner of the shop in the trendy east Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg, an area known for its vibrant night life, was taken into custody on suspicion of drug-dealing.

"In the shop we found 120 pieces of magic mushroom chocolate and countless cannabis lollipops," said police, who confiscated around 70 sachets containing various drugs, about 20 marijuana joints, a range of pills and some jars of drug-laced honey.

Police said one customer, who appeared intoxicated, was arrested after trying to buy a bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms from an officer in the shop.

  • Friday Lunch

Well I have made it till lunch time and only have a few more hours purgatory before I can head home for a well deserved weekend, even though I have to drive to Nottingham tomorrow it would be far better than being here. Myt line manager disappeared with out speaking to me, so he may well find my resignation in his ‘In Tray’ on Monday morning, fortunately I am not in the office on Monday, I have a seminar to attend in central London.

I can’t really hand the letter in until, I receive a written offer from the company that interviewed me, although I had some contact with the agency I haven’t had anything in writing and I hoping for an increase in the offer, but only time will tell.

  • The Paralympics

Just a quick update on the Paralympics, we are doing very well and have managed a grand total of 61 medals, 29 nine of them gold. WE are still second in the medal table behind chains who have 34 gold medals out ot a total medal haul of 101.

  • Am Bored

Am bored now, I am just hanging around waiting for my meeting and because I have very little to do I am surfing the net looking for fluorescent jackets to wear when I go cycling. But some, very nearly cost the same as my last suit (well maybe not that expensive) one are two are well over £60 with one costing £98, I have a vest at home, ok it does have a company logo on it, but it will suffice and will allow me to be seen, probably won’t stop me from being knocked of my bike by some Essex boy racer, but at east they will see when they do ride me down.  You can actually buy these hi-viz vets from the DiY or hardware shops for as little as £3.99 so why pay nearly a hundred quid for one.

It seems that the channel tunnel will be closed until at least the 14-Sep after yesterday’s fire; this is the second major incident another fire in 2006 closed the tunnel. Nobody has been hurt in this fire but it has brought travel chaos to the south east of England.

With the collapse of the travel firm XL tens of thousands of Britons are stranded abroad, and over 200,000 others have advance bookings with the company, a spokesman from the company have planned the collapse on the rising cost of aviation fuel.

  • Moved on

It’s a bit quieter now, the office manager has been around and kicked all the visitors out, so they are now packing up their stuff, muttering under they breathe that they are hard down by.  But the office manager made it clear in no uncertain terms that they can’t just come and sit where they like, and that the hotdesks are for visitors to the office. Quite funny really, I am sure that next time they come in we will go through the same process again, because these guys never learn.

  • No Quiet Day

I was hoping for a quiet day today, but it looks like that is not going to happen, we seem to have an influx of people from site for some reason. The only problem is that rather than using the hotdesks which are specifically for visitors, they have taken over our corner of the office and are using desks that very shortly will have the normal occupants coming in.

I did mention this fact to them, but was met with the response ‘I couldn’t give a fuck, am sitting here now’. I am sure that statement will go down very well when these people come in. The arrogance of some people is unbelievable, while I don’t know these guys well, I get on ok with them and they are normally well mannered and cordial, so some thing must have happened on site to stress them out, but it will be very interesting shortly when the normal office people get in.

  • The Truth Behind Energy Compnay's

Campaigners reacted with fury to a remark made by an energy company boss over the fuel bill crisis facing millions.

E.On boss Mark Owen-Lloyd joked that continued high gas and energy prices would mean "more money for us" - ignoring the plight of millions of low-income families who will face a choice between food and warmth this winter.

The energy firm apologised unreservedly for their head of emissions trading's blunder and warned he could face disciplinary action. But a Help the Aged spokesman slammed the jibe.

He said: "Fuel poverty is no laughing matter. One in four older people struggle to pay their fuel bills and millions may be forced to choose between heating and eating this winter."

A spokesman for industry watchdog Energywatch added: "You can understand traders being glib together but it is very poor taste to do so the day before the Government announces a much-needed package to tackle fuel poverty."

Mr Owen-Lloyd made the comment during a presentation at an Ofgem winter outlook seminar on Wednesday. Asked how high gas and oil prices could be affected by a harsh winter, he replied: "It will make more money for us."

Labour backbencher Roger Godsiff has been a leading proponent in calling on Gordon Brown to issue a windfall tax on major energy companies.

He said: "It was a very cynical comment that merely shows the contempt that major energy companies have for the general public. The really sad thing is, the joke is true and that's why we need the windfall tax." An E.On spokesman said: "It was a thoroughly inappropriate comment and we would like to offer an apology."

We all know that these are the feelings of all the energy company’s, but now it has been made public, Brown was wrong not to impose a wind fall tax on these energy companies. But I suppose if he did then they would increase the prices still further.  If the cost of fuel keeps rising then perhaps the Government bring legislation to stop these companies increasing the cost of fuel above the rate on inflation.

  • Green Bear

A polar bear, its fur stained with algae, stands in its cage at Higashiyama Zoo in Nagoya, central Japan. Three polar bears at the zoo changed their colours in July after swimming in a pond with an overgrowth of algae, prompting many questions from visitors concerned about whether the animals are sick or carrying mould, a zoo official said.

  • Big Day Ahead

Today, should be a big day for me, I have an interview this morning with my line manager, where I will probably hand in my notice. This was planned before I even went for my job interview. But I listen to him, see what he proposes and then hand my notice in as I work out the door. It may have to wait until Monday, after listing to him I might have a few things to contemplate over the weekend.

However, I doubt that whatever, he proposes will have enough content in keep me here. We might have lots of work in the pipeline but that doesn’t mean we have lots to do now, a lot of the work we have taken on, will only start quite a few years in the future.

  • Friday

Well it Friday, already this week seems to have flown, considering that this is my first week back after the holiday. No rest this weekend for me I’m afraid. I am taking Caz, my stepdaughter to Nottingham University, so it’s probably another early start tomorrow. I hoe we are back reasonably early, Rosemary is taking me out for my birthday meal, I have no idea where we are going but I expect it will very nice it always is. I will probably have to work out harder on Sunday just to burn it off.
