  • Time to Prepare

The ladies are still not back from wherever they went, so its down to me to prepare the evening meal, not a difficult job. Today we are having fish (cod to be precise) new potatoes and garden peas, simple even I can do that with out messing it up.

The rain managed to stay away but has been very windy all day and once or twice it looked definitely like the heavens were about to open. Ok I‘ll get on with the preparation and catch you all later.

  • Australia Here We Come

An analysis of new census figures has shown that Australia is suffering from an unprecedented "man drought". The statistics have revealed that there are almost 100,000 more females than males in Australia.

The problem is worse in the coastal cities, where women have moved seeking better jobs and lifestyles, while many men have gone overseas. Thirty years ago Australia was with flush with men thanks to immigration policies that favoured males.

That position has been reversed because thousands of Australian men in their 20s and early 30s have gone overseas either to travel or to work. It has caused a gender imbalance that is having far-reaching implications.

Major cities in Australia now have concentrated groups of unattached women, along with dwindling numbers of the opposite sex. Demographer Bernard Salt says the exodus of young men to foreign countries is leaving its mark.

"If you go into the United Arab Emirates census you'll find there is around 12,000 Australians living in Dubai, mostly male, mostly in the 25 to 34-year age group. "Here is an example of one country that has drawn out a specific age demographic out of Australia which has contributed to the 'man drought'."  But the situation outside of the larger towns and cities is very different.

Vast numbers of women have abandoned the countryside seeking better jobs or education in metropolitan areas. They have left behind communities overloaded with younger males. In the town of Glenden in the northern state of Queensland there is one single female for every 23 men.

Demographers have compiled a so-called "Love Map" that shows how the various clusters of unattached men and women are distributed across the Australian continent.

Time for us men to emigrate!

  • Out Shopping

It’s just starting to cloud over now, but so far it’s been a beautiful day warm and bright. Let’s hope its last it would be nice to seem some sun this year. I have just returned after a brief trip to town, well about two hours actually but I have walked miles and now my poor are stiffing up.

I have the house to myself the two ladies of the house appear to have disappeared with a word, no doubt shopping somewhere and spending my hard earned money. They will probably turn up just in time for tea.

  • Weather Forecasting

I enjoyed my little bike ride this morning, it was quite peasant in he morning sunshine, despite the wind, which made it difficult at times. The heavy rain and thunder storms have not materialised, at least in this part of the country. No surprise I suppose that the weather forecast was wrong again, can’t expect any better, perhaps their crystal ball is faulty.

  • Exercise Time

Right the cats are out, you should have seen them move, they shot out the door like the house was on fire. I am sure they will now head for their second home to see if they get more food. I am sure Buttons (the oldest at 12 years) as a second home, he can disappear for days at time, then come home and not look the slightest under nourished.

Gaia, the youngest definitely doesn’t have a second home and never wander too far she will always come home for her food. Oh well enough of the cat’s time to go out but need to do a few stretching exercises first.

  • Let the Cats Out

Welcome to a new week and a new month, September is here and summer is officially over (did it ever begin). But as I sit here looking out of the lounge window, it looks like a glorious start to the day. The sun is out and there’s hardly a breeze, I don’t think it will stay like this but for the moment is great. I just hope it stays like this for at least the next hour; while I pedal myself down the seafront.

I have fed the cats and now they want out, and the street cleaners is out sweeping the footpath right outside our window, how he can make so much noise I don’t know but at least he’s doing his job.
