  • Last Day of the Month

I have just realised it’s the last day of August, we are definitely on the down slope to Christmas, only a another 10 days to my birthday (cheques only accepted with a bankers card), and it will be the big one this time around, 50

  • 350 Tons of Track

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's largest ever haul of stolen metal has been found by detectives at a scrapyard in Staffordshire.

More than 350 tonnes of stolen rail track, other rail equipment, metal beer kegs, cabling and fencing were seized by officers from British Transport Police and Staffordshire Police.

The material is estimated to be worth more than 700,000 pounds.

"With the high price of metals on world commodity markets, metal and cable theft has become a significant problem for the rail industry, utilities and telecommunications providers," said BTP's Detective Sergeant Tony Nugent.

"This has been a major seizure and scrap dealers need to be aware that police forces across the country are co-operating in a crackdown on metal theft."

Officers raided the yard in Cheadle on Wednesday and arrested a 43-year-old local man.

Earlier this month, council leaders said high scrap prices had led to a sharp rise in the theft of manholes and drain covers, fuelling a boom in metal theft estimated to cost Britain millions of pounds a year.

How does anybody steel 350 tons of railway track, it not something you can sneak into the back of a Ford Transit is it?

  • Education

The shopping went well yesterday; at least it didn’t bankrupt me. In fact it didn’t take that long we were back home in couple of hours which was a nice surprise. Next Saturday will be a bit different; I am taking her to Southampton University for a look round, it one of the places she has chosen to see in her quest to pick a good university to attend.

I must admit I don’t fully the understand our entrance system or anything else about university’s well I am a bit thick after all, I only attended a secondary school, and wasn’t given much opportunity at school. Thankfully there was the army, who taught me everything I know, much better than school I ever went too. I doubt that any of the teachers who taught me are still around and reading this. If by any some miracle you are then the school was bloody useless.

On the point of education,  I do wish people, well mainly the media stop knock our kids and the results they receives on GSCE and A levels, I used to help Caz with school work, now there is no way I could its far above my level. Give them the credit they deserve.

  • Still Foggy

Good morning once again, am now back home after good work out, my heart is going ten to the dozen and I’m worn out, but don’t worry I will have fully recovered in about 15 minutes well at last I will have cooled down and my heart rate will have returned to normal.

It’s still very foggy here and shows no sign of lifting; I suppose it will lift once we get the heavy rain which is forecast for the next few days.

  • Foggy Out

It’s very foggy out this morning, I haven’t seen any fog for months, and it seems so quiet and strange. I am not quiet ready to go out yet, I need to do a few stretching exercises. I still a little stiff from the exertions from the last week, I have been out every day now for nearly two weeks and I have also done a few extra of swimming in the evening.

Once I’m back from what has become rather enjoyable first thing in the morning I will feel okay. I still another week of my holiday left yet so plenty more session to come.
