  • Its Over

It’s all over, the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing have finished, and Boris Johnson has collected the flag in 4 years time, we will have to go through it all again, only this time it will be in our back yard, can we be as successful in 2012. Well only time will tell.

But I am sure that the athletes will already be in training. I wish all the luck in the world.

  • Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival, Europe's biggest street party which showcases Caribbean culture, has descended on the streets of west London. More than 750,000 people are expected during the two-day event, which begins with a children's parade later.

The 44th carnival's theme, ‘Welcoming the World’, is in keeping with the Olympic handover ceremony in Beijing. Police have installed metal detectors on the three-mile route to try to stop the carrying of guns and knives.

  • Failed Drugs Test

Eight soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, have failed drugs test. The Regiment have just returned from a 2 year tour in Cyprus and are now on ceremonial duties in London.

An Army source told the News of the World newspaper that the men had "let the battalion down". "These are not just daft kids," he said. "Most are experienced men who should know better. It's taken the shine off what should be proud days for the battalion."

An MoD spokesman added: "The Army treats drug taking very seriously and appropriate action is being taken against all eight soldiers."

That means they will be kicked out of the army, the MoD does not tolerate drug taking, and quite rightly so, you can’t have a soldier who is high on drugs wandering around with a loaded rifle the consequences could be devastating. I was tested twice towards the end of career; I think compulsory drug testing was brought in 1990. You never know when the testing team will turn up, it amazes though that people so think that they can get away with it. On bright the percentage of soldiers taking drugs is far less that in civi-street.

  • Cleaning the Flat

I left Rosemary in bed this morning and after my now routine bike ride, I cleaned the entire flat, have down the washing and am now ready to make her lunch. She deserves a lay in now and again and I don’t mind cleaning the flat, it’s not a problem to me.

Caz has gone out for the day, she usually does on Sunday, but I must admit it’s not a very nice day; it as not improved since I went this morning. That’s bank holidays for you, I bet the shopkeepers hope for an improvement in the weather tomorrow, they haven’t a good time this year and last year was just as bad, their takings have slummed with the weather being as bad has it has been.

  • Congratulations and Well Done

Well the games are as good as over, and Team GB has every right to be proud of its self, it was perhaps a little disappointing that we didn’t perform to well in the athletics but as far as some of the other sports, we out did ourselves. Team GB had a target of 35 medals and we have come away with a total of 47 which includes 19 gold’s. We have finished 4th in the medal.

So to all the medal congratulations and well, here’s to 2012, see you there!

  • Wet and Miserable Sunday

Good morning fellow bloggers and welcome to Sunday, a wet and miserable day just right for the bank holiday. I have been up now for a little over hour and have once again been out on my bike. Certainly not as nice as yesterday, but still quiet a few out and about.

The seafront looks like a bomb as hit it, rubbish everywhere after last night’s carnival, we didn’t go however, the weather wasn’t very nice so we decided to go for a meal instead. Very nice it was too much easier than cooking and we hadn’t been out for while so we thought it would make a change.
