  • Done and Dusted

That’s it, its all over my work is most definitely complete my desk is tidy and I have just finished sorting out my emails and cleaned up my computer, and I have put the ‘Out of Office Reply’ on my computer. So I’m off!

Next stop home, feet up relax and take it easy for the next couple of weeks don’t worry the diet and exercise regime will still continue, I don’t intend to undo all the good work I have achieved over the last five weeks. I will still have access to the internet so I will be posting, I haven’t posted any pictures for ages that will change this next few weeks.

  • Nearly Finished

The time is drawing close, it won’t be long before the start of my holiday and judging by the office it seems everybody has the same idea. The car park looks deserted and the office is like a morgue. I have nothing left to do, well apart from archive my emails and clean my desk. That will keep me busy for oh, I would say 5 minutes.

  • More Gold

Another gold to add to our impressive total, and its on water once again. Tim Brabants victory in the 1000m K1 class brings our gold medal haul to 18, with the possibility of more to come. James DeGale has reached the final of the middle weight class in the boxing which guarantees him at least a silver medal.

More success will piss the Aussies off even more.

  • Buggered It Up

I think I have just buggered up one the colour printers in the office, I have just sent a document to be printed, it’s in pdf format and is 1MB but its taking the printer ages to down load it and seems to clogged it up. I’m not practically bothered for expect for one fact, my name has appeared on the printers screen and so I can’t deny it me. Oh the same of it, (well not really lol) only about 4 hours and I’ll be on holiday.

  • Sour Grapes

It seems like the Aussies are taking the British success at the Olympics to heart.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Australia's Olympic Committee president, aghast at the sight of Britain above his country in the Olympic medals table, has vowed revenge -- if not now then on British soil in 2012.

"They're certainly serving it up to me," John Coates told a roomful of downcast Australian journalists on Tuesday when asked how to cope with gloating British fans and officials.

"Their new-found cockiness has got some substance to it," he added.

Britain, Olympic hosts in 2012, were in third place in the medals table on Tuesday morning, one place and one gold medal ahead of Australia.

Australia and Britain have a strong sporting rivalry, particularly in rugby union and cricket. Australia thrashed the English cricket team 5-0 last year after a rare English success in the previous series. Coates has similar payback in mind.

"I said at the outset, and my sense of pride says, that we can't let them beat us and they may well beat us this time but let's use that as the incentive to get the planning right for our high performance and our attack on London 2012."

  • Data Loss

The Government has lost more personal data, this time the personal details of 10, 000 prolific offenders (what ever that means) and all of the 84,000 prisoners in England and Wales. Shadow Home Secretary Dominic Grieve said he was "absolutely horrified" by the loss and "government incompetence".

This once again shows how inept Government departments are on the security of personal information and data. But while the media and opposition parties have a field at the Governments expense, is it really they fault, yes they must take responsibility. But this is not down to Government, the Conservatives or Lib Dems would be just as bad, this is about individuals not following correct procedures, why would anybody have the detail’s of all these people on a memory stick, whoever was responsible for this loss should be sacked straight away it’s just not acceptable.

This is why ID cards, while being a good idea, are not safe and the idea should be scrapped until some safe method can be devised.

  • Prescription Goggles

Its swimming night, Caz and my self will spend an hour swimming lengths at the local swimming pool. I have just been given her goggles, but in exchange I had to buy her some prescription ones. But it took me a week to understand why she needed them. It not so much that the swimming that she has difficultly with, although I am assured that these new goggles will help. It’s getting to and from the pool, she doesn’t really like wearing contact lens and her eyesight is not good enough to wander about without her glasses.

While I am on the subject of eyesight, I have noticed many adverts both on TV and in the media about laser eye correction. Now my eyesight is not too bad. I only have to wear glasses for reading and on the computer. So laser correction is not really an option for me, now the adverts state that the procedure cost as little as £395 per eye. Now I was intrigued when I received an email from the across the pond in the land of the free, advertising laser correction for, wait for it! $295 per eye. Now the current exchange rate is nearly $2 to the pound that would make the procedure about £100, quite a bit of difference.

I am sure that they have more clinics over there and have probably been at longer but that’s still quite a bit of difference. One small point pilots, at least those in the RAF are not allowed to have laser eye correction (well at one point they weren’t), so it appears that some people still don’t trust the procedure.

  • Holiday Time

Thank god it Friday, I have finally made to the end of the week. Actually this week seems to have gone quite fast probably because I been out of the office for a couple of day. But not only is it the last day of the working week, today’s the start of a two week break, in a few hours I will be able to switch off completely for a couple of weeks, and boy am I going to enjoy to myself. I have been looking forward to this for months and it finally here.

I have a few things that need my attention but on the whole I have very little to do now, just a few document have to be sent out, but they just require a quick check through to make they are ok and that’s it, I should be finished by lunch time, I would think a few people will heading off early, well it the bank holiday weekend.
