  • MP Expenses

Why should MPs be able to vote on whether or not to keep their existing expenses? They shouldn’t be able to vote on their own wage rises either; it makes a mockery of the whole political system.

It appears they have their snouts in trough and that some are so bent they have trouble standing up straight. More than half of the 646 MPs did not take part in the contentious vote. Of the 172 who voted to keep the old system of allowances, subjected to internal audits, 146 were Labour MPs.

We need to know the names of these MPs who voted to keep the old system; they should then be deselected at the next election. The local political parties have the power to do this; however, I doubt that this will happen because those people who are active in the selection system are probably as crooked as the MPs who voted against changing the expenses system.

  • Something Smells

This is my home town, not a very famous or a very big place, but we do get into the mentioned in the media now and again. I dontl live they any more but my family still does.

Time is up for a pesky skunk which has been caught by the RSPCA in West Yorkshire after kicking up a stink for six months on the run. Dozens of calls had been made to the animal charity from people in Todmorden who had spotted the crafty creature.

Named Pepe Le Pew after the Warner Bros cartoon character, he was captured on Friday after a tip-off call that he had been seen on Joshua Street.

The RSPCA is now appealing to anyone who may be missing a skunk.

RSPCA inspector Alison Wilkinson said Pepe had set up home amongst some rubbish.

Although it is thought Pepe's main scent glands have been removed, she said he did not give up without a fight. "It took nearly an hour to grasp him. He was hissing and spitting," she said. Keeping a skunk is legal in the UK, but the RSPCA said the animals had very specific needs which made them difficult to care for.

"He's either escaped or been abandoned," said Ms Wilkinson.

"We haven't had any reports of anyone missing one in the area, which does tend to point to the latter, but we are obviously keen to hear from anyone who thinks he might belong to them."

Pepe is currently being cared for at the RSPCA Bradford Animal Centre, but will be taken to a skunk specialist in Hemel Hempstead.

  • Would You Sell Your Kids

A baby boy removed from his parents' custody after they offered to sell him on eBay for just one euro (79p) is back at home, a prosecutor said.

"The child has been returned to his parents," prosecutor Johannes Kreuzpointer said.

The parents, who live in Unterallgau, Germany, maintained that the posting was just a joke gone awry and investigators agreed, dropping their probe into possible child trafficking.

It’s a shame that eBay wasn’t around when I was bringing up my kids, there was a number of times I would have been glad happy to see them go, I would have even paid for them to go. Only joking!

    Honest!!!!

  • Sailing Barge

    Thames Sailing Boat

I really like this sailing barge, am not sure of the exact type of boat, so any nautical type people out, if you know then please pass on the information, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Tower Bridge

    Tower Bridge

Here are a couple of pictures I took yesterday on my way back to station after the meeting. There were taken with my camera phone, I didn’t want to take all camera equipment to London when in was attending a meeting. The focus is a little soft and the pictures are not as sharp as I would like them. But not too bad for a camera on my mobile.

  • 4th July - Hot Dogs

Today is in competitive eating world all eyes again turn to Coney Island, N.Y. , where American hot dog champ Joey Chestnut once again takes on Japanese eating legend Takeru Kobayashi –- and both men look to break new records in gluttony.

But for either eater, it’s going to be doubly difficult --if not impossible -- to top Chestnut’s record of 66 franks and buns in 12 minutes. That’s because the Nathan’s Famous July 4th contest is now only 10 minutes.

Major League Eatingthe sanctioning group of stomach-centric sports – says that newly discovered evidence shows that the original Coney Island contest, held in 1916, was just 10 minutes long, so it's chopped two minutes off the event.

Kobayashi, the diminutive six-time winner who revolutionized the sport and showed that short, skinny men can beat hefty eaters at the dinner table, is looking for a comeback. Last year, he was said to be hampered by “Jawthritis.”

  • Pregnant Man Reportedly Gives Birth

Thomas Beatie, a transgendered man, has given birth to a girl. Beatie, 34, caused quite a stir when he announced several months ago in The Advocate that he chose to be artificially inseminated after his wife was found to have fertility issues.

When he underwent gender reassignment and legally changed his identity from male to female, he kept his female sex organs. Beatie told Oprah several weeks after going public that this was the only way for he and his wife to have a child.

  • Friday Once Again

Thankfully its Friday once again, this week seems to have flown by; the weather for the weekend is a little mixed, rain and showers. I am planning on taking one of my little trips to a nature reserve this weekend, not sure which one but I have a couple in mind. I don’t really mind about the weather after all not many animals do.

I will get the camera ready tonight, the batteries need charging again. The one thing I have noticed is that since I bought a battery grip for my camera the battery seems to last a lot longer. In the camera manual it says that a fully charged battery should last approximately 400 shots. Now I have two batteries in the grip so that should be about 800shots. But I tend to get far more than that even with my very large zoom lens on it.

I hope to get away early once again today, even though I had an early day yesterday (I only worked from 09:00 until 14:15). I am required to work 37 ½ hours a week, which would take me up until 11:15 today. However, I won’t be walking out of the door at that time, I too conscientious for that. Beside the company is pretty good, and the boss is not too bothered if I take half a day off here and there as long as I don’t kick the arse of out if it.

  • Back in the Office

Am back in the office today after my meetings in London yesterday, the weather was great, for me it hot and sunny all day. But according to the weather forecast London had some very heavy rain showers, I don’t know where that that was but it wasn’t anyway near me, mind you don’t they always say the sun shines on the righteous, lol.

The meeting while not a waste of time wasn’t particularly useful, a few phone calls and email may have sufficient to get the business done. What was useful is that it was the first time the team had been altogether and there were a few new members which were introduced.

I finished early so I had a walk down the Thames and took some pictures, which I will post later.
