  • New Opportunities

I have just had a recruitment agency phoning me, to ask if I would be willing to work on a project in India. The job would be as a consultant on the construction of the new airport in Mumbai. I do have considerable experience on the airports and I suppose it in a nice part of the world, a part I have never visited. If it was just me, I would have my bags already but I don’t think Rosemary would like, but I’ll run it past when I get home. You never know?

  • Burned Down

A huge fire has destroyed the historic Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare.

Dozens of firefighters fought to tackle the blaze which took hold of the partly wooden pier in the North Somerset seaside resort at about 0700 BST.

No-one was injured in the fire, though black smoke and flames were said to be visible from as far away as Cardiff. BBC Radio Bristol reporter Nigel Dando, who is at the scene, said: "There'll be nothing left after this fire, it's a desperately sad scene."

Hopefully something will be able to be salvaged, but I hope they have better councillors than we have at Southend, our pier burned down in 2005 and we are still waiting for it to be restored.

  • Ryanair

Ryanair has warned it could make an annual loss of up to 60 million euros (£47.4m) if oil prices stayed high and it continued cutting fares. The budget carrier said net profits in the three months to the end of June had fallen by 85% to 21m euros - below analysts expectations. And it added that it was yet to fully hedge the price it paid for oil.

Ryanair's downbeat predictions saw its shares fall 15% while British Airways slipped back 4.7% and Easyjet lost 10%.

  • Four Weeks to Go

I have 4 weeks left of this hell before I take a break and head off on holiday for the a few weeks and I am already looking forward to be being away. Personally I would rather be on holiday right now but you can’t have every thing can you?

  • The Weather

Another beautiful start to the day and after a great weekend I once again find myself stuck in the office, I sure there must be a better way to make a living. It is well know throughout the world that the British have an obsession with the weather, and I am no exception. I may have an idea why, I think it’s because the weather forecaster can never get the weather right.

Last night while watching the news on the BBC, the forecaster predicted thunder and lighting for the next few days, yet when I have just looked at the BBC for the next 5 days there is nothing about heavy rain and thunder storms in fact the weather forecast is for the warm and sunny weather to continue. Of course we will still continue to complain about the weather, Rosemary is complaining that its far too for her, and she’s probably not the only one. Yet we all complain when it pours with rain. I don’t really think we are complaining about the weather (well I don’t) I complain the forecaster can’t seem to get it right.
