  • Heartbreaking

It’s so sad that six young people should die so tragically in a traffic accident, some have the emergency services have been so traumatised that they have said they could never work in the same job again. The scene must have been horrific; the police will now carry out a full investigation, to determine the cause of the accident.

I am not trying to be judgemental and without the full facts it is impossible to draw any conclusions but from the limited pictures available it does appear that the HGV is on the wrong side of road. Why, I don’t know it may have been serving to miss something and the road does have quite a few bends so it may have drifted across the across road while negotiating a bend, and speed will have been an issue.

But my heart goes out to all the families involved it must be so difficult to come to terms with such a tragic incident.

  • Getting Ready

Am just going make myself some lunch and I will off to Rainham marshes, the  weather has improved in the last couple of hours, there is barely a cloud in the sky. I hope it remains like that, the forecast is still for rain but I ma keeping my fingers crossed that it will avoid the area and head more north. They of course are used to up there, I am sure it used to rain every day when I lived there, lol.

  • Vetoed

A draft resolution to impose sanctions on Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and a number of his key allies has been vetoed at the UN Security Council. China and Russia rejected the proposed measures, which included a freeze on financial assets and a travel ban.

There has been growing international criticism of Zimbabwe since the re-election of Mr Mugabe in a run-off boycotted by the opposition. The UK foreign secretary called China and Russia's stance "incomprehensible".

David Miliband said Russia used its veto despite a promise by President Dmitry Medvedev to support the resolution, when it was discussed at this week's summit of the G-8 group of industrialised nations.

So what does the world do now, it was always doubtful that China would go along with the West as they do a lot of trade with Zimbabwe but at least we thought the Russian would back sanctions and even the South Africans, now it appears we are back at square one. What can we do as individual like us do in situations like this? Nothing, but our Govenment should be able to someting but I doubt they will do nothing apart from sending a strongly worded letter.

  • Relaxing Day

Have decided not to go back to bed, have made myself a cup of coffee and will do a few around the house after browsing the web. The weather is dry at the moment and I hope it remains so because I am off out to Rainham Marshes for the day. It has forecast showers with periods of sunshine, but am not really bothered what the weather as in store for, am just going for a relaxing day with my camera.

  • The Cat Alarm Clock

Its very early 04:45 and the cat has decided that because its becoming light then it must be time for food. To illustrate her point she decided that purring in my ear while sat on my chest would get her a pouch of her favourite cat food. Who needs an alarm clock when you a four legged fur ball who thinks she can tell the time. It a good job I love that cat otherwise she would be a David Crocket fur hat my now, lol.
