  • Ready to Go

Only quarter of an hour to go before I can disappear, I’m not really counting the minutes down, but am definitely ready to go home. I have just about had enough today, still its Friday tomorrow the end of the week, that something to look forward too isn’t it?

  • Is War Inevitable

How long will it be before America and Israel launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran? It seems inevitable and will they drag us into to this new war probably, because this labour Government does not have the balls to say ‘No’ to Bush and cronies.

I hope to God that before we dragged into another conflict that they come to their senses across the pond, the world doesn’t want another war. But Bush and his administration seems intent on making an enemy of every country on this planet. Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea. Yet with countries like Burma and Zimbabwe they are doing little but paying lip service to the crisis in those areas.

They are also doing little to help the Palestinians in Gaza, but then again that would but them in conflict with Israel and that would never do.

  • I Want A 99

I am, ready to go home now, even though I still have over an hour left before I can escape. I really need a 99 ice-cream and it’s all Rosemary fault, if she hadn’t phoned up and told me what she was up to, I would have been non the wiser and wouldn’t have needed an ice-cream, now the craving won’t go away.

  • Enjoying the Sunshine

I have just received a phone call from the better half (aka Rosemary) who took great delight in telling that she is sat on the sea front in glorious sunshine eating a nice ice-cream.

That phone call really did me the world of good, here I am stuck in the office and there she is enjoying herself in the sunshine. Doesn’t she do loads for improving morale, and making me and the rest of the office staff feel really good happy?

  • Terminal 5

Is this a case of management not listening to workers on the ground or are the unions giving the management a good kicking while they are down.

Union leaders told the House of Commons Transport Committee that no consideration was given to their views. The launch of the £4.3bn terminal in March was criticised as a "national humiliation" following glitches in the new baggage-handling system.

Managers said they ran out of time to fully test the system. Chaos quickly ensued causing flights to be cancelled and bags to go missing.

Lifts were also left out of action and staff struggled to get through security.

The problems cost several top executives their jobs. Steve Turner, from the union Unite, said: "British Airways and (airport operator) BAA were working together over the opening but there was a complete failure to consult the trade unions."

Iggy Vaid, a senior shop steward with Unite, said: "We were told this was a state-of-the-art building. "Everything was going to work. Everything was going to be all right. "We had a lot of teething problems with the opening but these could have been avoided had we been listened to, but we were not."

Colin Matthews, BAA's chief executive, said he had not found any evidence of concerns in writing from those worried about T5 in advance of the opening, although he conceded that there would probably have been verbal discussions.

Despite claims from the unions that more than 900 bags a day belonging to transfer passengers were going missing at Terminal 5, Mr Matthews insisted it was "working well".

  • Don't Look Stupid

    Tip of the day!

When I write a blog I tend to use Microsoft word, then cut and paste the document into the blog editor. However, this morning while typing out my blog on the ‘Low Morale’ I made the cardinal mistake of not properly reading my blog before posting. Hence the mistake I made and most kindly pointed by LaSpice. I typed in moral in stead of morale, of course it didn’t pick it up because it was spelt correctly. My English isn’t practically good so I have to make an effort when blogging.

Therefore the tip of the day is don’t rely on Bill Gates to correct your mistakes read your blogs carefully other wise you make yourself look stupid!

  • Have Caught Up

It’s taken me a couple of hours but I have finally caught on the last tow days, I hadn’t been able to get to my emails until this morning, sometimes it can be a bugger to be out of the office even for such a short time. I don’t have access to the internet when I’m away, which in this day and age is a little strange. Ok I can use a dial in connection at 56kbs but if you have a email with attachments it can be a real pain in the arse.

Why, they won’t allow us to connect to a broadband or give us a card for a wireless network I don’t know. But is does make like difficult.

  • Low Morale

A report carried out by the MoD has said that almost half of our Armed Forcers are ready to leave the servicers.

Some 47% of Army and Royal Navy respondents and 44% of those in the RAF said they regularly felt like quitting. Among the concerns raised by the 9,000 servicemen and women surveyed were the frequency of tours, levels of pay and the quality of equipment and housing.

There were times when I was serving I felt the same, but I didn’t, I have no doubt that some will leave because of low morale and poor conditions but the majority will stay.

In a way it’s very similar to health service workers, the fire brigade or even the police. All complain about low morale, poor working conditions and low pay, but not many will quit. Why, because the people who do these jobs are very conscientious and do these jobs because they enjoy doing them? Thank God!

  • Normality Resumes

After the last couple of hectic days, today should see the return of some sort of normality (I hope). I have had early starts and late finishes so we can finalise the design for a new office block in the East End of London. Every thing went ok and the final design will hopefully be signed by the client.

The weather seems to have improved from the last couple days, the day as started with clear blue skies ands sunshine as opposed to yesterday down pours, lets hope it stays that way.
