Why should MPs be able to vote on whether or not to keep their existing expenses? They shouldn’t be able to vote on their own wage rises either; it makes a mockery of the whole political system.

It appears they have their snouts in trough and that some are so bent they have trouble standing up straight. More than half of the 646 MPs did not take part in the contentious vote. Of the 172 who voted to keep the old system of allowances, subjected to internal audits, 146 were Labour MPs.

We need to know the names of these MPs who voted to keep the old system; they should then be deselected at the next election. The local political parties have the power to do this; however, I doubt that this will happen because those people who are active in the selection system are probably as crooked as the MPs who voted against changing the expenses system.
