  • The Boss's Transport Home

The boss’s transport has just arrived to pick him, its parked on the grass opposite my window, it normally upsets the smokers when his transport arrives, they always complain that they can’t light their cigarettes when his helicopter is landing or taking off.

  • Fathers Day Present

    3B8129B92B6EF721A089E72DF0BC

My wife was asking me yesterday what I wanted for father’s day; well here it is what every guy really wants for father’s day.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage a bargain at a mere £93,000.

  • Top of the World

My motivation as returned, I have sorted by pictures out from my weekend away and some have been down loaded on here.

I have got my act together at work and everything is looking good. What a difference a day makes, this time yesterday I was sown in the dumps today I’m on top of the world.

  • Chasing People Up

Lunch time and what I thought would be a quiet and relaxing week in not turning quite the way I hoped. Am still not exactly bursting a gut buts it a little busier than I envisaged.

I seem to have spent most of my time on the telephone or sending emails, to various companies making sure that the quotations that I asked for will be with us by the end of the week. They are dragging their heels and they need a kick up the butt now and again to hurry them along.

Considering the costs involved I would have thought that they would have shown little more enthusiasm to get the work. Perhaps they don’t need the work; however I don’t think that’s the case. I actually need them Wednesday or Thursday at the latest so I can check that they are compliant, because we need to have our final bid ready before we go home on Friday.

  • Cheap Flights

Are the days of cheap air fares coming to end?  Ryanair has revealed that it only expects to break even in 2009 if oil prices remain at level they are now. This year its profits rose to £381m an increase of 20% on last year. It has also increased it’s check in and baggage handling chargers and expects fares to rise by around 5% in the next year.

Mean while Giovanni Bisiganni head of the International Air transport Association has criticised service levels at Heathrow saying that they are “a national disgrace” he continued to criticise the CAA for allowing BAA to increase chargers at the airport by over 86% in the next 5 years.

The organisation has warned that the airline industry will lose £1.2billion this year after a forecasting a profit of £2.2billion.

With the increase in fuel costs does this mean that the expansion of airports will put on hold (I doubt it), if the cost of aviation fuel continues to rise at the current level then the demand for air travel will decrease hence we won’t need bigger airports therefore no expansion will be necessary.

  • 31 and Rising

So far this year 31 teenagers have been killed through knife or gun crime, 16 these have been in London.

The latest, last night was a 15 year old school girl who was stabbed at least 10 times she was still in her school uniform. Tell me is this normal for a civilised society?

  • Crime & Punishment

In my post I did not advocate capital punishment (although sometimes after hearing what people have done makes me want them executed). My post was to see what views others held and the answer was quite clear. All the people who replied to my post are of the same opinion; capital punishment is not the answer.

So the death penalty is out, and so is public flogging we are far to civilised to do that sort of thing. Community service seems to be the only option, for minor offences community service over number of weekends would probably suffice, for more serious offences then a custodial sentence along with community service would be acceptable.

As for the work they do, yes it has to be productive; cleaning our parks for instance would be great idea, the local council does not have the resources to clean these areas leave it to the convicted criminal, he gets punished and the public gets a service.

Only one problem it’s been tired and doesn’t seem to have any effect, so what do we try next, the prisons are full, capital punishment is a non starter, and community service does not work. It looks like a no win situation.

    Any ideas?
