This is what really annoys me about the church, it is supposed to represent society but it appears they are just bigots. A leading Church of England bishop will boycott the Lambeth Conference in protest at the presence of pro-gay bishops, it has been reported.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, the Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali will decline an invitation to the Anglican Communion summit. Bishop Nazir-Ali has helped organise the rival Gafcon conference currently being held in Jerusalem.
It’s about time these people faced reality, gay clergy will not go away and why should they, and they have the same rights as everybody else in this world. The clergy be, they Anglican or Catholic have a duty to treat everyone equally, no wonder there is so much hate and violence in the world, our religious leaders set a great example to the world by advocating it by not allowing equal rights to gays. A number of years ago their hatred was against women in the church, if you went back a few hundred years it was against coloureds in the church. What is with religion that it breeds loathing and hatred, and they wonder why congregations are falling? Is it any wonder, am really glad am atheist?

That's the danger of basing your way of living on an old book that was written by people at a time of maximum bigotry, and which contradicts itself all over the place. In one place it says you mustn't kill and in other places it supports mass slaughter. People just pick and choose the bits they want to follow and ignore the ines that don't fit. That's why there are so many Jewish and Christian sects - several hundred of each, all with slightly different beliefs, based on which bits of the bible they like the look of and which bits they don't.
It's a thoroughly ridiculous situation. If Jesus ever existed, he must be turning in his grave.
