Feet Up
Time to Go Out
It's nearly time to go out, we have to and visit Don (Rosemary's Dad), well I did say earlier that is is fathers day. The kids have all gone out, and it looks being a beautiful day so it will be nice to get in the sun once again.
Its Fraud
Tory chairman Caroline Spelman, who is under fire for paying a nanny with MP's funds, was making the payments for longer than she previously stated. The Meriden MP told reporters she paid Tina Haynes to look after her children and do secretarial work for a "short term period", between 1997 and 1998.
But it has emerged that Ms Haynes was on parliamentary pay until March 1999. MPs are not allowed to use their pay for anything private. Mrs Spelman says she did not break any of the rules.
Childcare is counted as non-work related for an MP, and therefore it would be an unacceptable use of public funds to pay for a nanny. But Mrs Spelman denied she had been wrong to use public funds to pay for Ms Haynes, saying she had done secretarial work so it had been "entirely within the rules".
The Parliamentary watchdog is currently considering whether or not to launch an inquiry Mrs Spelman's behaviour. A statement from John Lyon's office has said it would be "exceptional" for him to probe a matter dating back seven years.
The Conservatives are yet to comment on the latest development.
More lies and sleaze from our MP’s, we are being conned by the very members we elect, it time to put a stop to this. Too many times these people get away with fraud; yes it’s as simple as that. Fraud is a crime; perhaps we should jail a few of these people after all they have broken the law and defrauded us out our money.More Secrets Lost
It appears that Government officials have lost more sensitive files, on the same day Top Secret files on al-Qaeda were handed to the BBC, the Independent newspaper was given files which cover fighting global terrorist funding, drugs trafficking and money laundering A Treasury spokesman said the government was "extremely concerned". The Tories are calling for controls to protect secret official information.
The documents, about a meeting of financial crime experts, apparently include briefing notes for a meeting of the international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to be held in 11 Downing Street next week.
The papers were found on train bound for London Waterloo on 11 June, the same day that another batch of papers relating to intelligence assessments of Iraq and al-Qaeda were handed to the BBC after being left by a senior official on a train.
The Cabinet Office and the Metropolitan Police launched inquiries into the documents handed into the BBC - the latest in a series of blunders involving sensitive official information.
These incidents and others like them are making us the laughing stock of the security world, I can’t see anybody doing business with at this rate, would you trust anybody who leaves your most furtive details around for anyone to see.
The people that we trust with details are the most highly paid in the Civil Service and for some reason instead of reading them in a secure location they take them home to read and leave them on the train, this is just incompetent how do people like this get jobs with such importantance, I wouldn’t trust these people to sweep the streets, sack the lot of them!
Fathers Day
Nope I didn’t get he Aston Martin V8 Vantage (I thought it a bargain at a mere £93,000), am still keeping my fingers crossed for my birthday though. So I didn’t get the Aston, but I did get the next best thing a DVD of James Bond, at least I can watch one. Oh and a nice bottle of wine to drink while sat on the sofa watching it.
Great kids and its nice to be appreciated.
Good Morning
Very early this morning, just popped on for a few minutes and then I'm going back to bed, It's Fathers Day today, am still hopefully that my present will be Aston Martin V8, but on looking out of the window I can't see one, so I am probably out of luck.
Oh well, may be next year
