The posh lifestyle of a Brazilian convict came to an abrupt end after police confiscated a plasma television, two guns, gym equipment and the equivalent of $173,000 in cash from his cell.

Jose Francisco Leite of the Prison Affairs Department raided the cell of Genilson Lins da Silva as part of a state-wide crackdown on drug traffickers.

An investigation has been ordered to find out how Silva, who is serving 28 years for robbery and murder, got 280,000 real’s (approx $173,000), two .38-caliber pistols and various other amenities into his cell at the Lemos Brito Penitentiary.

The prisoner was immediately transferred to another facility.

Sounds as comfy as UK prisons!
